Citrus County has a unique opportunity to shape its future given the extension of the Suncoast Parkway into Citrus County and the associated development potential that extension brings. The second Suncoast Parkway interchange at State Road (S.R.) 44, which is currently under construction, will impact the character of the surrounding area. In anticipation of this change, the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council prepared several land use scenarios for the designated S.R. 44 Interchange Management Area (IMA), from which the Board of County Commissioners chose the “Focused Growth Scenario” to guide development.
Citrus County is just beginning to implement the S.R. 44 IMA. The County has requested professional services to develop a Comprehensive Plan amendment to establish the Future Land Use Map category, objectives, and policies for the S.R. 44 IMA. The County also requested professional services to update the Land Development Code to implement those policies once adopted. The Consultant will work with Citrus County to develop the Comprehensive Plan amendment and update the Land Development Code to implement the S.R. 44 IMA.
